A Place For Everyone

group of 4-H membersIt’s easy to become a part of 4-H by joining one of the existing clubs across the province or by starting your own club; you can be a member or a leader of 4-H wherever you live. Members are between the ages of 6 and 21 and leaders are 22 years or older.

4-H members belong to a club, enroll in projects and learn from the guidance of volunteer leaders. Members share knowledge, socialize and build friendships. There are four age groups to choose from:

Cloverbuds for 6 to 8 year olds

Cloverbud project is a 180-day discovery project for 4-H members ages 6 to 8. (Cloverbud members have reached their 6th birthday, by midnight December 31 of the previous year, and who have not reached their 9th birthday by midnight December 31 of the previous year.)

The Cloverbud project is a discovery project, which emphasizes group creativity and participation, not competition.  Cloverbuds are not eligible for livestock, small animal or other 4-H projects.  The Cloverbud project consists of three units that explore a total of seven different topics through fun-filled activities such as crafts, field trips and hands-on-workshops. 8-year-old Cloverbuds are eligible to explore skills relative to one specific 4-H project of their choice, which may be livestock or non-livestock. Members will not carry out their own 4-H project but will focus on skill development and project learning specific to their project area of choice.

Junior Members for 9 to 12 year olds (youth who have reached their 9th birthday by midnight December 31st of the previous year)

Junior members may choose from over 30 4-H projects, ranging from livestock to small animal to non-animal projects such as gardening, photography, outdoor living, Self-Determined, etc.

Senior Members for 13 to 19 year olds (youth who have successfully completed their Junior Profiency exam by demonstrating a complete working knowledge of Junior 4-H work.)

Senior members may choose from the same projects as Junior members with the addition of a few special projects; Junior Leader and Senior Management.

We also offer special projects for 20 to 25 year olds, so check us out and you will be sure to find a project to suit you.
